All our container units are specified for self storage use, have ventilation and are sealed wind and watertight. It is important to remember, if someone brings wet items into the unit there will be condensation issues as this water will be trapped inside, as would occur with any self storage unit in an industrial building.
Shipping containers are great for storage providing they are looked after and ventilated correctly. A very large amount of modern day consumables spend months in shipping containers in all weather conditions at sea, before they reach the UK market eg. televisions, iPhones, furniture and thousands of other products.
All we ask is you ensure all your items are dry before going into storage. e.g fridges/ freezers/ washing machines, any business equipment etc. We will do the rest!

Yes – you must have insurance to store your goods with us.

You must not store (or allow any other person to store) any of the following in the Unit:• Food or perishable goods
• Any living creatures
• Combustible or flammable substances such as gas, paint, petrol, oil, cleaning solvents or compressed gases;
• Firearms, explosives, weapons or ammunition;
• Chemicals, radioactive materials, biological agents, toxic waste, asbestos or other potentially hazardous substances;
• Any Goods that emit fumes or odours;
• Any illegal Goods or substances or goods illegally obtained such as, but not limited to, illicit (counterfeit/smuggled) tobacco or alcohol and unlicensed or unsafe goods (such as toys, electrical goods, medicines, aerosols, cosmetics, fireworks);
• Goods which are environmentally harmful or that are a risk to the property of any person
• Currency, deeds and securities;
• Property where the value to you cannot be assessed on a financial basis, including goods purely of sentimental value; and
• Any goods which are contaminated with food or any other substance which may deteriorate, rot, become mouldy or attract vermin.

Upon booking, a refundable security deposit will be charged. It’s returned upon vacating, unless damages or other terms are not met. If you cancel before move in day, the deposit will be returned in full.

We provide a complimentary secure padlock whilst you store with us. You are welcome to add an extra padlock to your unit for increased security.

At Lockd Self Storage we have a 7 day notice period. Your contract automatically renews every month. If you want to vacate your unit, simply email or call to let us know. You can use your storage for the whole period you have already paid for. Then empty, sweep and lock your container leaving your keys in the key safe attached to the container. Please send a picture by email or WhatsApp of your empty unit and keys in the key safe so that we can confirm that your unit has been cancelled.
